The management, staff and pupils of Scoil Mhuire senior school extend a warm welcome to you all. We hope that for the coming years we will work together, management, teachers, parents and children, in each other’s best interests.

The aim of our school is the total formation of the children in our care as children of God, enabling them to live a full life as a child, while at time equipping them to avail of further education.

School History: Scoil Mhuire was founded in 1975. On the first day there were 600 children on roll from junior infants to sixth class in 25 classes. To our knowledge it was the first large co-ed school in an urban area in the country. The school continued to grow quickly and for the following year, 1976 the projected enrollment was 700. It was necessary to divide the school into junior and senior in line with then policy of the department of education to limit new primary schools to 16 classes.

The school at present caters for children from 3rd to 6th class. The total enrollment is over 430 pupils. There are usually four classes at each level. The children in 6th class experience teaching by at least three teachers and this has proved an invaluable help to children in the transition from primary to secondary school.

scoil-mhuireWe currently have seven learning support/resource teachers and a home / school / community liaison teacher. Mr. Gerry king is the administrative principal. The ancillary staff consists of three and a half special needs assistants, a full-time caretaker and a full time secretary and a part-time school completion worker.
