Encountering the Real Presence of Jesus Christ

When we take time to encounter the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the tabernacle in the Adoration chapel we open ourselves to a real living relationship with God the Father, through His son Jesus. Jesus is waiting to offer you peace and give you real direction in your life. Here he is really and truly present, and He doesn’t mind how many mistakes you might have made, how seemingly off course your life has become, or the myriad of problems that take up the hours of your day – He would love to spend just one hour with you, and he will help you to resolve all the issues and troubles in your life.

In a speech delivered from the Phoenix Park in 1979 that in hindsight seems almost prophetic, Pope John Paul II referenced the difficulties of the distractions of human life when he said ‘Ireland, that has overcome so many difficult moments in her history, is being challenged in a new way today, for she is not immune from the influence of ideologies and trends which present-day civilization and progress carry with them. The very capability of mass media to bring the whole world into your homes produces a new kind of confrontation with values and trends that up until now have been alien to Irish society.’   Sometimes life can become very confusing, there are so many different ideologies and opinions out there that we can easily become distracted, lost, lonely even in the crowd and noise of life. But God loved us so much that he sent us His son so that Jesus would always be present and accessible to assist us in our daily lives. Pope John Paul II continued: ‘… It is from the Eucharist that all of us receive the grace and strength for daily living–to live real Christian lives, in the joy of knowing that God loves us, that Christ died for us, and that the Holy Spirit lives in us’

At a time when we are hungry for peace yet riddled by distraction, how can we not come to Jesus to receive the peace that we seek?

At Baptism, we are all confirmed individually as members of the Body of Christ. St. Paul says ‘Now you are the Body of Christ and individually members of it’ 1: Corinthians 12:27.  That means that you and I are part of the global Christian Catholic community that makes up the Church. Each hour spent in meditation with the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist is like a precious pebble in a pond, rippling outward to extend the peace of Christ to all we encounter in our daily lives. Jesus is inviting you to Him to be the peace you want to see in the world.
