In Caelo grew from what had once been the local Parish Folk group, when some past members of that group came together. They advertised for more members, and so In Caelo was formed just before Christmas in 1997.
The first performance was at the local Christmas Carol Service. At this stage, the choir held only around 15 members but one could tell it was the start of something good. Today In Caelo has 45 members, and is the envy of many choirs, in that, it has managed not only to hold soprano and alto voices but has strong tenor and bass lines also. This can be seen as a great feat when many church choirs are losing numbers and finding new members, especially male voices, hard to come by. In Caelo is like a family unit and has gone from strength to strength under the guidance of its director Cora Coffey. In Caelo has produced many memorable moments as a result. Many musicians have also helped in enhancing the sound of the choir over the years.

It began in the spring of 2000, the brainchild of Sr Eileen Murphy. Sr Eileen was keen to start a folk group in Cill Mhuire Church but was finding it difficult to get people to commit to the project. She discussed her idea with one of the other sisters in the convent, Sr Joan, who was not well but promised to pray for her wish.
The Cill Mhuire Folk Group was conceived out of a chance meeting between Sr Eileen and the wife of Michael Ormonde, Trish. Sr Eileen subsequently contacted Michael and managed to gather some singers together from the Holy Family Secondary School. Cill Mhuire Folk Group was born and its first Mass was the celebration of the beginning of exams that year.
Over the years the group has gone through many changes. Many members have come and gone but the group has continued through its ups and downs. The group grew from a handful of people to boasting almost 25 members at one stage. This has varied over the years. The central aspect of the group is its informal nature. Even though its members over the years have been committed to the group there has never been a strong regime or strict rules about membership. In its earlier years, the group consisted of mainly teenage girls and one or two boys and in its later years and up to the present time the group has evolved into a mainly adult membership.
The group has developed into a vibrant and lively group who have gelled together musically and there is a beautiful contrast of voices within the group. A Saturday never passes without some member of the congregation commenting on the group’s enhancement of the liturgy. Taking part in the liturgy of the Mass is the main objective of the group so when a comment is made it is felt to be all the more worthwhile.
The Cill Mhuire Folk Group has taken the name ‘RUAH’ which means Spirit of God and is under the musical direction of Michael Ormonde and Kathleen Elliot. They have celebrated their twentieth year in 2020. Over the years the group has had its challenges but RUAH has flourished and grown stronger with time and has become a well-appreciated addition to the liturgy of the Mass in Cill Mhuire Church. They sing and play their hearts out every Saturday at the seven o’clock Vigil Mass and plan to do so for a long time into the future.
