Fr. Pat Hughes C.C.Curates, House, Chapel Lane, Newbridge, Co. Kildare Profile: My name is Fr. Pat. I am a native of Baltinglass, Co. Wicklow, which is not that far away from Newbridge. I attended the local primary and secondary school in Baltinglass. When I completed my time in secondary school, I worked for a while locally; I then went on to do a Computer course in Tallaght. In September 1992, I got a job as a Technical Support Technician with a small computing company, where I worked for six years. Throughout my life I always had an interest in the priesthood, so in August of 1998 I left the computing business behind me and headed for St. Patrick’s College, where I trained for the priesthood for seven years. Back in August of 1998 seven years seemed like a long time, but looking back on it now, I ask myself where did the years go, there were times I found it tough and challenging, but I’d describe it now as one of the best and most memorable periods of my life to date. I was ordained to the priesthood on the 05 June 2005, indeed it was a special day, after which I was appointed to Newbridge parish on the 05 August 2005. Amongst my many responsibilities hi the parish, 1 am chaplain to three schools, namely, St. Conleth’s and Mary’s Infant School, Patrician Primary School and St. Conleth’s Vocational School. I am very much happy to be a priest in Newbridge and I’m very much enjoying my ministry. |
