Profile: A native of Galway, Fr Brian was ordained in 1966 on the same day as the Dominican Church here in Newbridge was opened. Fr Brian did his studies for the priesthood in Cork, Tallaght and Rome. ( The rector of the College in Rome was the late Fr Conleth Kearns,O.P., a native of Newbridge.) Apart from a short time teaching in Australia,and later in Dundalk Vocational School,he has spent most of his time in Dominican parishes in Australia (12 years) and here in Ireland. Fr Brian was Prior or Parish Priest in Dublin (inner city), Limerick, Waterford & Galway. He did some retreat work, too, during these years.A short time was spent in Newry. His very last posting was in the The Claddagh,Galway, where he was P.P. for 12 years and Chaplain to Galway Vocational School(G.T.I.).Fr Brian has found a great welcome here in Newbridge, where he has gone from being the youngest priest in The Claddagh to being the oldest here in Newbridge Parish!
